Recurrent tracheoesophageal fistula: Clinical case

Abstract

A non-standard surgical approach to treating a patient with a recurrent tracheoesophageal fistula has been presented in the article. A posterior tracheal wall repair using an esophageal patch was used. This approach, despite tissue shortages and a long-standing infection, allowed for the isolation of the affected area of the posterior tracheal wall and the creation of additional protection for the mechanical suture. This approach resulted in a complete cure and an improved quality of life for the patient.
